I’m trying to figure out how many boxes will fit into a moving truck. Most of the guides I see mention cubic feet, but I’m not sure how to calculate it properly. If I have a box that’s 24 inches long, 18 inches wide, and 16 inches high, how do I convert that into cubic feet? Is there an easy way or tool online to do this?
You can calculate cubic feet manually by multiplying the dimensions and then converting:
Cubic Feet = (Length × Width × Height) ÷ 1,728
(Since 1 cubic foot = 12 × 12 × 12 = 1,728 cubic inches)
For your box (24 × 18 × 16):
24 × 18 × 16 = 6,912 cubic inches
6,912 ÷ 1,728 = 4 cubic feet
If you don’t want to calculate every box manually, you can use a free Cubic Feet Calculator here: Cubic Feet Calculator (inch, feet, mm, cm, meter) .
It works with inches, feet, yards, or even millimeters and instantly gives you the cubic feet. Very handy if you’re moving, shipping, or planning storage space.
